uh oh. this message is a warning: there's something dangerous on this level of the dungeon.

a jelly! a jelly not only has a powerful acid attack, but it's also voracious and will eat anything in its paths - including any door i try to put between it and myself. the most troubling quality of the jelly is that it'll also eat away at any weapon i attack it with, permanently reducing its effectiveness in combat.

naturally, this is a creature i'll want to attack with arrows. jellies are slow but will flee when wounded, expecting their natural defenses to keep attackers from following. with arrows, though, i have nothing to fear.

the other troubling property of jellies is their tendency to divide.
