after exploring the rest of the floor - and finding a cloak, an additional point of armor i can wear over other armor - it's time to read the rest of those unidentified scrolls.

a black glow indicates an item has become cursed: this is a scroll of curse armor. i have a few scrolls of remove curse, but i'm going to wait until after i read the rest before i use it, in case one of them is a scroll of curse weapon. i'd prefer not to waste an uncurse.

a scroll of blinking! these are useful escape hatches, allowing me to warp instantly to any space i can see; it won't get me as far from danger as a teleport scroll, but it takes effect immediately, and i know where i'm going.

sure enough, here's the scroll of curse weapon. i'll use the uncurse scroll to remove both curses simultaneously before proceeding to the next level of the dungeon.
